The PhotoBook on Facebook

Filed under: Photo Book NEWS — Doug Stockdale @ 5:58 pm

At the urging of Andy Adams of Flak Photo, I am experimenting with Facebook and I now have a fan page set up here for The PhotoBook. To be honest, I am not sure how this will work out, but I am willing to give it a try. As you might guess, I have not been a Facebook user until very, very recently.

My current thinking about this: my photobook reviews will be published right here, no change. On Facebook I will provide more background information,  trying to keep in what I think the spirit of Facebook is about, more details of what I am working on and the progress I am making for each photobook review.

So if you are interested in becoming a fan, please check it out. Thanks! And please let me know what you think about all of this, eh?

Best regards, Douglas

  1. Im a big fan of your blog and I find it quite interesting. As for facebook- pass on it- no- run from it. The simple truth is when folks add facebook to their workload- their blogs suffer. It like having two storefronts- in different towns! You simply cant be in both places and expect to deliver the same quality of service.

Look what happened with Chase Jarvis- he had a great blog- now he barely posts to it anymore. Im about to drop it and add someone else!

  2. You are hitting dead-center one of my biggest concerns, the potential dilution of my time and effort and what might susequently suffer.

Even publishing the photobook reviews has already had an unfavorable impact on the development of my personal photographic projects.

  3. I agree with your plan and at the same time resonate with Richard’s concerns.

Post the reviews here and limit the Facebook postings to “the making of” type updates, as and if your time permits. You have a great thing going here (the El Bano De Frida Kahlo review was terrific by the way) and I would not risk jeopardizing it. At the same time, tidbits of *complementary* information may serve to fill the gaps between the larger postings on the blog.

  4. Dylan, thanks for your comment on both accounts, the nice feedback on my book review and how to potentially manage FB and this blog.
